This article is called “The Most Expensive House” well… it’s actually 10 houses that I’m going to write about. Sorry about that. It’s no secret that everyone would like to live in a beautiful house. It’s even better if the house is the most expensive house in the world. Wow. Living in such house would definitely attract attention from “Cribs”. (It’s a popular show by mtv where they explore people’s houses, for those that don’t know, just had to get that out of the way). expensive houses

Updown Court

“If Elton John were a house, he’d be Updown Court.” This was a quote by a former estate agent and property developer Leslie Allen-Vercoe. Why? Well let’s take a look.

This building is entered via a $3.1 million worth heated marble driveway. It has 24 fully fledged bedrooms (with en suite bathrooms, of course). The master bedroom even has its own swimming pool AND there are four others. This includes a luxurious infinity pool.

"The Manor" in Los Angeles

The Manor

Where do I begin with this one? “The Manor”, also known as Spelling Manor, is an extremely expensive mansion located in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. It’s currently owned by heiress Petra Ecclestone who is a daughter of formula one racing star Bernie Ecclestone. The house was originally bought for $85 million but it has been on the market for two years. The Manor used to be the most expensive residential real estate listing in United States.

The Manor was originally built in 1991 with a gorgeous French Chateu style. It is 4248 square meters with a 4.6 hectares of surrounding land. Private cinema, bowling alley, 2 swimming pools, tennis courts, a beauty salon, and a spa you name it. All of these are included. One feature of the house that’s different from the others on our list is the humidity controlled silver warehouse designed to protect your jewelry. There are also several gorgeous gardens in the area and if you’re more of a car person we’ve it covered too. The mansion is capable of parking up to 100 cars. Talk about a spacious garage.

"The Pinnacle" in Montana

The Pinnacle

This house is a real treat for those who appreciate the beauty of our nature, specifically those who love skiing. The Pinnacle is a ski lodge and the largest property of the exclusive ski and golf community “Yellowstone Club”.

“Okay, but has it got owners?” You might ask. The answer to that question is yes. the pinnacle is proudly owned by Tim and Edra Blixseth. The house isn’t as big as the other houses on our list. There are “just” 10 bedrooms available. Other perks include a fireplace in all bathrooms (yes, you read that correct), a heated flooring system, and a huge wine cellar. There are also pools indoors and outdoors along with a private gym and a massage room. Sweet. I guess the hefty price tag is a result of the astonishing location.

It’s owned by Elena Franchuk who is a daughter of a former Ukrainan president and a wife of oligarch – Victor Pinchuk. The villa was refurbished by a developer named Mike Spink. Inside you’ll find the usual cinema, sauna, gym, and a panic room. What I like about this house is it’s luxurious underground swimming pool built according to Spink’s exquisite minimalist style. Not to mention acres of marble and wood paneling.

5th place
“Hearst Castle” in Beverly Hills
Price: million

"Hearst Castle" in Beverly Hills

Hearst Cast;e

The Hearst compound, sitting on 6.5 acres of beautiful landscape, was originally built in 1926. What I like about this house the most is the fact that it has been featured in the film “The Godfather” which is undoubtedly my favorite film of all times. Well there you go.

Okay where were we.

The Hearst estate consists of six separate residences with a total of 29 bedrooms and more than a whopping 50,000 square feet of living space. There is of course a movie theatre and 3 swimming pools. It’s considered to be one of the most famous properties in Beverly Hills. The mansion (some call it a castle) has massive gardens originally landscaped by Paul Thiene. It’s where Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy had their honeymoon, and that’s saying something.

3rd place
“The Penthouse” in London, United Kingdom
Price: $200 million

"The Penthouse" in London, United Kingdom

The Penthouse

What does a room service from a TV chef, SAS-trained bodyguards and a panic room has got in common? That’s right, all of these belong to the third place of our “most expensive houses” list.

Without doubt, it’s the most expensive flat in the world. Featuring security measures a James Bond villain would be proud of and a panic room if things go south. It’s got a spectacular view over Central London, an underground passage to a Heston Blumenthal restaurant and even a private wine-tasting facility. You get the idea.

The two-floor apartment also includes windows stretching from the floor all the way to the ceiling, it’s own car park and easy access to numerous spas and squash courts. There is also a tunnel (yes, a tunnel!) to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel – where a TV star Blumenthal will open his London restaurant – allowing residents access to around the clock room service. All this while McLaren (the car maker) is opening a showroom on the ground floor. Should you want to venture outside you’ll find local shops such as Harvey Nichols and Harrods.

Did I mention the residence has bullet-proof windows? Or the air purifier to neutralize poison gas attacks?

While the identity of the owner of this apartment is hidden we may only guess it’s someone from the likes of Russian oligarchs and Arab billionaires.

2nd place
“Villa Leopolda” in Cote D’Azur, France
Price: $750 million

"Villa Leopolda" in Cote D’Azur, France

Villa Leopolda

The new owner of this amazing villa is a known Russian oligarch who runs an investment fund. The villa is located on the coast of France’s Côte d’Azur. The $750 million purchase made headline news.

Being one of the most expensive houses on the planet, Villa Leopolda is one of the most splendid and expensive properties on the French Rivera. It’s a playground for the rich and famous. However the story doesn’t end here. Back in 1999, the previous owner named Edmond Safra, who was a Lebanese-Jewish banking billionaire, was murdered by his male nurse. Since then Edmonds wife Lily has been looking to sell the property.

Villa Leopolda was originally built by King Leopold II of Belgium sometime at the beginning of 1900. The cream-colored villa is built on 20 acres of beautiful gardens overlooking Cap Ferrat. King Leopold baught the land for a bargain at that time and the estate quickly became a magnet for members of the high society.

The enormous estate requires a 50 full time gardeners. Visitors can stroll amongst 1,200 olive, lemon, orange, and cypress trees planted across 20 acres of beautiful garden.

not so long ago one newspaper stated that around 60 of the villas or mansions on Cap Ferrat are now owned by Russians.

1st place
“Antilia” in Mumbai, India
Price: $1 billion

"Antilla" in Mumbai, India

Antilla

Not too long ago the world’s most expensive home was complete. the owner of this 27 storey building is Mukesh Ambani – the richest man in India, and fourth richest man in the world. It’s difficult to say what kind of structure this building resembles. It’s far too big to be called a house, the fact that is has 600 staff workers and more living space than the palace of Versailles would normally make it a castle.. or a mansion, but then again, how can you call a sky scraper a mansion?

I’m confused.

Whatever you choose to call it, the building itself is a supposed to be a glorious representation of emerging markets growing into power over the world. The building just screams money and power. It’s got an asymmetric stack of glass, tiles, and steel, a four storey hanging harden, and a solid gold chandaliers hanging from the ball room ceiling.

It is indeed a marvelous building. Antilia also includes a health club with a modern gym, a dance studio, at least one swimming pool, a luxurious ballroom, a number of guestrooms, 9 elevators, a variety of lounges, and a 50 seat movie theatre. That’s not all, it also has 3 helipads on the roof, and a parking garage capable of holding 160 cars.

The top floors enjoy an incredible view across Mumvai and the Arabian Sea. There is no other private property in the world quite like that. At 400,000 square foot, with each floor having a unique design, Antilia well deserves the number one spot on our list of the most expensive houses in the world.
